The David Ghantt Heist
The David Ghantt heist, which occurred in October 1997, involved the theft of $17.3 million from the Loomis Fargo & Company in North Carolina. David Ghantt, an armored car driver for the company, stole the money after disabling the security systems, loading the armored van up and driving away. He then met with his accomplices intending to split the money three ways and escaping to Mexico. Ghantt and his accomplices went on a comedically extravagant spending spree after the robbery that led to their eventual capture by the FBI.
This heist has been the subject of books, movies, and documentaries, and now this podcast.
